About us
We are a climate analytics nonprofit established in 2021. We provide system modelling data, software and analysis to support energy transition planning decision-making. We are entirely grant-funded by the Quadrature Climate Foundation, Google.org, Sequoia Climate Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, European Climate Foundation, among others. Our data, software and analysis is used by developers, financiers, planners and think tanks internationally.
About the role
We are looking for a Communications & Marketing Manager with energy sector experience to join our team on a 6-month contract, with the potential for an extension if mutually beneficial. The role is content-focused. You’ll collaborate with our team of subject matter experts on insightful articles, data visualisations and videos about the global energy transition. This is a hybrid role, based out of our London office, reporting to the Head of Communications & Marketing.
Responsibilities
Content creation & editing: draft, edit, and publish explainers, updates, and outlooks in collaboration with our analysis team
- Media management: Support contract/partner comms resource, ensuring press and media-related grant objectives are met and reported on
- Social & newsletter content: Generate social media content and newsletters
- Content calendar: Manage and maintain a company-wide content calendar
- Opportunity monitoring: Identify engagement opportunities that align with our products and mission
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to develop materials that support grant and product priorities, such as
- Educational content
- Training programs
- Media alerts
- Product marketing materials
- Webinars
- Website & social maintenance: Ad hoc updates for the website and our social media profiles
- Brand guardianship: Ensure content aligns with our brand's tone, personality, and style, according to our brand and copy style guide
About you
Strong writer: You have an editor’s eye, and write copy with style and brevity
- Data-led: You’re comfortable digging into data to unearth interesting angles
- Storyteller: The energy transition is complex; you write with clear, simple language, that appeals to the widest possible readership
- Content experience: You have a solid grasp of design principles, some experience working with basic editing software and can translate complex, long-form content into effective social formats
- Collaborative: The ability to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. You empower others to tell engaging stories about their work
- Hands-on mentality: Be ready to contribute to tasks, regardless of size
While we are a rapidly growing tech startup, we are also a non-profit, so a high level of adaptability and willingness to approach challenges with creativity and curiosity is essential.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Hands-on communications and content creation experience within the energy sector
- Eager to create!
Beneficial
- Experience as a journalist/business writer/science communicator
- As we work in a quantitative field, an educational background adjacent to mathematics, science, finance, or engineering would give you a strong footing
- Experience within a B2B or B2G software environment
