Climate TRACE

Partner

Climate TRACE is a non-profit coalition of organizations building a timely, open, and accessible inventory of exactly where greenhouse gas emissions are coming from. Founded by WattTime and TransitionZero through a Google.org grant, their aim was to monitor emissions from power plants from space using satellites. The coalition includes Carbon Yield, Duke University, Earth Genome, Global Energy Monitor, RMI, OceanMind and WattTime. The algorithms underpinning the development of Climate TRACE were listed in Time Magazine's The Best 100 Inventions of 2020.

TransitionZero is the Heavy Industry lead for Climate TRACE. We provide data on electricity, steel, cement and other industrial sectors and our data can be accessed each year as part of Climate TRACE's annual GHG emissions inventory data release.
